"Matter of Threads, Volume 2"

Sarah Needham, Jyoti Bharwani and Aleksandra Niemczyk

8 – 17 May 2026 | Private View Saturday 9th May, 5-8 pm | RSVP

Matter of Threads, Volume 2 is a continuity of the creative dialogue between artists Sarah Needham, Jyoti Bharwani and Aleksandra Niemczyk, which began with a 2024 exhibition at Paint Spaces Gallery in West Hampstead, London.

This second edition in the series of collaborative events and exhibitions continues the visual dialogue evoking ancestral memories while offering a profound exploration of materiality and the spirituality inherent in the creative journey.

Jyoti Bharwani (MA Fine Arts and BA with honors from Central Saint Martins) is a London-based South Asian abstract artist working across painting and sculpture. Her practice explores cosmology, material balance, and the sculptural curvature of the earth through circular birch-based forms.

Sarah Needham is a 2025 graduate of the Royal College of Art Painting MA. Her practice based in vital materiality and attunement across time and place. The studies being exhibited here were made while at the RCA, while in the process of transferring to a more sustainable methodology; making oil media with linseed oil, chalk, and egg yolk.

Aleksandra Niemczyk (MA Painting and Printmaking from European Academy of Art, Waraw, Poland, and MA in Film Directing from Béla Tarr’s film.factory, Sarajevo, B&H) is an abstract painter living and working in Blackheath/Greenwich, London. She uses mixed media techniques to create non-figurative paintings full of intensity and colour. Her latest works draw inspiration from the art of Boro and pigments used in Japanese textile art.

Gallery opening hours: Friday-Sunday 10-5pm or by appointment.
